Uff-da, you made it! You’re probably wondering what this little triangle of a home is all about. We’re a duo of couples, or a couple of duos, whichever way you want to look at it. We go by Ashley, Brooks, Jamie & Alex. Ashley & Jamie are twins whose full-time gig is owning and operating a vintage store in the Twin Cities called Arlee Park. Brooks, Ashley’s husband, works full time for a University as an Academic Coach and has an extensive background in home projects that spans way back to his childhood. Alex, Jamie’s husband, is a carpenter by trade and works full time for a scaffolding company as a Superintendent. He too has a vast knowledge of skills when it comes to abode work, obviously. Together, we acquired a passion project of bringing back to life an a-frame that was constructed in 2 weeks by a team of builders from British Columbia back in 1978. We are by far not up to their speed, but we’re working on it.
The a-frame is nestled 90 minutes north of Minneapolis/St. Paul on 5 acres of woods on the Snake River near Mora, Minnesota. Mora is the sister city to Mora, Sweden, so little north is translated as lilla norr in Swedish (pronounced lē-la norr). The a-frame is little and so is the proximation from the Twin Cities. Again, whichever way you want to look at it.
We’re hoping to make a tranquil place for you to escape to, whether for a weekend or for a week. Our goal is to be as resourceful as possible as we dig into restoring this cozy shelter. We want the space to be an extension of Arlee Park, so with that, most furniture and decor is vintage from the 1970s Morsø stove, the 1986 Carson's of High Point modular sectional, vintage Italian travertine coffee & console table, to the 1950s Crane Diana bathroom console sink, to name a few.
